US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed deep concern on Saturday regarding Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s accusations against the Indian government in connection with the death of a Khalistani Separatist leader. Washington is collaborating closely with Ottawa on this issue and seeks accountability.

During a press conference on Friday, Blinken emphasized the importance of completing the investigation and stated that the US has been in direct communication with the Indian government.

Blinken stressed the need for the investigation to move forward and for cooperation from Indian authorities. He also highlighted the seriousness of transnational repression and reiterated the importance of countries refraining from such actions.

Jody Thomas, the National Security and Intelligence Advisor of Canada, recently made two visits to India, including meetings with NSA Ajit Doval and attendance at the G20 Summit.

Tensions between India and Canada escalated after Trudeau alleged Indian involvement in the killing of Khalistani extremist Nijjar. Trudeau has been collaborating with allies to establish the facts and work constructively with India.

Canadian officials denounced an online video targeting Hindu Canadians but did not address a pro-Khalistani outfit’s involvement. The video prompted statements from Canadian ministers condemning aggression, hate, and intimidation.

The Ministry of External Affairs dismissed Trudeau’s allegations as absurd and motivated, emphasizing that similar claims were rejected during previous meetings.
